Pre-Primary

The Pre-School Curriculum is designed around specific learning outcomes tailored to each age group. It creates an environment that stimulates multiple senses, encouraging children to explore themes and topics with enthusiasm. Questions and discoveries are celebrated, fostering a sense of curiosity.

In this collaborative space, children and teachers reflect on the significance of each activity, allowing every child to engage in a personal and meaningful way. Teachers strive to understand the social and cultural backgrounds of their students, gaining insights into their emotional, cognitive, and social needs. This understanding enables educators to cultivate a truly unique multicultural learning environment.

Curricular practices in Pre-school :

The balanced approach of the preschool curriculum is evident in the daily activities designed around specific practices that address the overall developmental needs of this age group. Teachers play a dual role as observers, carefully documenting students’ progress during both work and play.

  1. Learning Centers: Children develop essential skills through various activities such as observing nature, constructing with building blocks and clay, engaging in pretend play, and participating in reading and recycling centers. This setup allows children to learn and explore at their own pace. Teachers take on the role of observers, documenting students’ progress during both work and play.

2. Teacher-Led Instruction: While the class engages in activities at the learning centers, one of the two teachers rotates with small groups of students to focus on different skill areas.

Reading::

  1. LKG: Read-aloud sessions and a variety of digital reading materials in the classroom introduce children to the world of reading from their very first day of school. Students learn how to handle books, examine illustrations, create their own stories, and start the reading process.

2. UKG: There is an increased emphasis on nurturing children’s natural curiosity about books and illustrations. They begin to show reading-like behaviors by retelling familiar stories. By the end of UKG, children can read familiar texts, labels, and captions, demonstrating their growing reading skills.

By age 5, our kindergarteners start reading and by the end of age 5 they are able to read three to four letter words and sentences.

Language: The kindergarten language program combines phonics with a spoken language approach, making it engaging for children. They play and interact with words and objects to enhance their speaking and language skills.

Math: Children explore numbers through hands-on activities and vibrant digital content that help them grasp concepts of quantity and operations. Through counting games, number rhymes, and puzzles, they build a solid understanding of math.

Science, Discovery, and Exploration: At this age, children show a strong interest in exploring their surroundings. The curriculum offers rich stimuli from their immediate environment, encouraging observation, investigation, exploration, questioning, and the documentation of their unique discoveries in various ways.

Clay Work and Pottery: These activities foster fine motor skills and encourage creative expression.

Block Play: This play nurtures creative thinking and helps children articulate their ideas.

Dramatic/Symbolic Play: This allows children to enter a world of fantasy and express their perspectives.

Art and Craft: Integral to learning, art helps children document their inner thoughts and experiences, providing a meaningful connection to their feelings.

Music and Movement: Children engage in creative dance, learn to play simple instruments, and sing, enriching their musical experiences.

Storytelling and Poetry: These activities enhance children’s social, emotional, and communication skills.

Community Connections: The curriculum includes regular interactions with the community during special events and assemblies, such as Grandparents’ Day and charity days.

Physical Education, Games, and Movement: Activities like swings, slides, balancing beams, and obstacle courses are led by trained professionals to develop coordination, teamwork, independence, and confidence.
